WAEC Stats: 2000 students cheated in 2016 WASSCE

WAEC News reaching our news desk this morning is that WASSCE has confirmed that nearly 2000 students were involved in WAEC exams malpractice in the 2016/2017 examination.

Head of WAEC, Dr Sam Nii Nmai Ollenu, reveals that his outfit has come up with a new anti-malpractice software which clamps down on candidates who flaunt exam rules.


2000 students cheated in 2016 WASSCE


“In spite of the interactions with candidates during our sensitization programmes and engagement with stakeholders, quite a number of malpractices were recorded in the 2016 WASSCE. 

Consequently, for the 2016 WASSCE for school candidates, 11,277 candidates lost various subject results, whilst 647 candidates had their entire results cancelled,” Rev Ollennu revealed.

Meanwhile, WAEC has appealed to supervisors and invigilators to be more vigilant going forward so as to prevent cases of exam malpractices.


2017 WAEC candidates are advised to be diligent in their studies to ensure that they don't get caught cheating.
