WAEC news today has it that a 49-year- old-man, identified as a former Principal of Mercy College, located in Oke-Oba area of Lagos, Abayomi Abdul, has been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate Court, sitting at Samuel Ilori Court House, Ogba, Agege, for allegedly defrauding his students of N500,000 and issuing them with fake Junior WAEC results.
According to the prosecution, the suspect collected the money from 14 students of the school as registration fees for their 2015/2016 Junior WAEC but failed to remit it to the appropriate quarters or register students for the said examination and that when pressure mounted on him by the students and their parents was getting too much, he issued them with print out of fake results. The police pointed out that the alleged offence is punishable under Sections 166 (d), 285 (7) and 363 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos Nigeria 2011.

The suspect pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties who must be residing in Lagos with reasonable means of livelihood. The matter was adjourned to March 6, 2017.
